Marty Rifkin of Fort Wayne shot a 14-over 84 at Sahalee Country Club and was tied for 145th place late in the first round of the U.S. Senior Open in Sammamish, Wash.
Eighteen strokes off Bruce Vaughan’s pace, Rifkin had eight pars, six bogeys and four double bogeys on the 6,866-yard course.
Rifkin had an 8-over 43 on the front side, a 6-over 41 on the back. He had 1.78 putts per hole but hit only four greens in regulation.
